Unless indicated below, this is a transcript of the original Society for the Preservation of Long Island Antiquities/Town of Brookhaven survey form.   Since most of the surveys were conducted in the late 1970's and early 1980's, much of the information reflects that time period. 

Corrections to obvious typographical and spelling errors have been made.  Corrections to factual errors in the original surveys, and updates or comments on the information are either enclosed in [square brackets], or are clearly indicated as updated material from the context of the comments. 

Sites which have a suffix of "S" are supplemental sites not included in the original surveys.

Other Notable Features of Building and Site
18-Notable Features: This house belonged to C. Newey in 1902* ; it is unidentified on 1897 map.

Very large beech tree in front yard.

[* probably Charles Newey, born about 1823/1825. In 1888, the C. Newey family is living on Newey Ln., and were likely living there at the time of the 1860, 1870 and 1880 censuses. While Charles died in 1896, his wife likely continued to live in this House until her death in 1911, along with their son William Sheperd (Shepp) Newey and family (see)]

[In the early part of the 20th century until at least the late 1950s, the house belonged to Charles Clifford Hotcaveg.]

Historic and Architectural Importance
20-Importance:   2 1/2 story, 2 bay on second floor, 3 bay on first floor, side entrance plan, gable roof house with gable end to street, and 2 1/2 story 1 bay wing on east side. Original porch with turned posts. Original sawn decoration in peak. 6/6 windows. Brick foundation.
