Valentine's Brook

.. Br01.1-S. Now principally known as Beaver Dam Creek, or occasionally as Fire Place Creek, during a relatively short period in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, it was known as Valentine's Brook, after Jacob Lewis Valentine, proprietor of the "Brook Store," which was situated on the shore of the creek nearby to the east of this picture. The post card was likely produced by Valentine and sold in his store.

This is a view of the lower or Miller trout pond, looking north toward South Country road. The Miller farm was to the right. The pond has been filled and is now the site of the Fire Place (aka Zimmer) vest pocket park. The upper trout pond (later known as the Wellington trout pond) was on the other side of South Country road and can be seen in the post card of the Brook House restaurant patio.
