Notes:

"Lake View Cemetery", sometimes called the "Episcopal Cemetery" (title of which is said to have been vested in St. Paul's Episcopal Church by Ruth Newey Smith), west of and adjoining the the property of the former Patchogue-Plymouth lace mill (now site of Briarcliff College), Patchogue. In this Cemetery is the Ruth Newey Smith monument with hundreds of names and dates of the descendants of John Smith of Coram (there are known errors).

This is cemetery 5a on the Town of Brookhaven Historian's cemetery inventory. It is located on the north side of Montauk Highway (Main St.), east of Waverly Ave. Union can be entered off of Waverly Ave.

There apparently are three historically separate cemeteries adjacent to each other at the general site: #05 Union, #05a Lakeview and #05b Rice. They are separated by iron fences which now contain significant gaps allowing communication between them. Sometimes all three are identified as "Lakeview." Union is the the northwest site; Rice is the southwest site; and Lakeview is the east site.

The cemetery is undergoing a renovation on its way to becoming an arboretum cemetery. Steve Gill and the Cemetery Restoration Committee have been raising funds and working tirelessly to upgrade the cemetery by repairing and resetting headstones, having the original gates remade and installed, repairing fences, and more.
