The Suffolk Club was a membership organization founded in the early 19th century for hunting and fishing. It remained a membership organization until the 1920's when Anson Hard bought the outstanding shares from the remaining members, at which time the site became his own personal hunting lodge for himself and close friends. This hunting lodge would eventually become Suffolk County's first county park, now known as the South Haven County Park.
