- His pastorate also included the Middle Island Presbyterian Church. He continued to served the Middle Island Church after his retirement as a Stated Supply from 1839 until 1843.
Priest King was the pastor of the South Haven Church when the present building was built. He also was insrumental in the founding of the Bellport Presbyterian Church and the Bellport Academy.
In the South Haven Church session book is this reference to "Priest" King, made at the close of his ministry in Fire Place: "The people had been united remarkably in sustaining their pastor, and their expressions of attachment to him had been abundant and continued and his attachment to them seemed to be no less strong and abiding."
The South Haven Presbyterian Church Session minutes record that the relationship was formally dissolved in April 1839, and that he preached his last sermon and administered the sacrements at the church in June 1839.

- He studied at Clinton Academy in East Hampton, and in 1808 commenced the study of theology under the Rev. Aaron Woolworth, pastor of the Presbyterian Church at Bridgehampton. He completed his course under the Rev. Lyman Beecher, pastor of the Presbyterian Church at East Hampton, and in 1800 was licensed to preach by the Long Island Presbytery. Bayles records that he he became pastor of the Middletown (Middle Island) and South Haven Presbyterian Churches in the Spring of 1811. However, being only "licensed," he could not have been an installed pastor. Borthwick records that he was ordained and installed as pastor over both churches on 11 May 1814.

- According to Borthwick, Ezra King had five sons and three daughters; however he does not indicate by which wives -- although most would have been by his second wife, Eliza. According to Bayles, he had two children at the time of his wife Lydia's death -- Thomas and Lydia; and six children under the age of 15 at the time of Eliza's death, one of them a baby of 11 months.
