Ruth Sterling Gould indicated that he immigrated when he was eight years old, which agrees with what was recorded in the 1930 census.

The Brookhaven Civic association, which is composed of people who own property along the Bay front and adjacent areas, held its annual meeting last week in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Witterwell of Bay road. There were 12 members present. Russell Brown was elected president to succeed the late Peter Stirling, and Alice Brown was elected financial secretary and treasurer to succeed Miss Sarah Schaefer. The association has built several bulkheads along the water front to prevent further erosion and more rock is to be added for this purpose.
This association is not the same as the Brookhaven Village Association. As part of the developer's development agreement, all of the land between Edgar and Bays Roads south of 2nd Street to the bay beachfront property was to belong in common to all the homeowners in that development. They had to form an association, which still exists, to do so (control common land) and named themselves the Brookhaven Civic Association.
The shore hardening rock jetties, called bulkheads in the article, caused massive erosion southeast of it along the shore toward Mott Lane. Remnants of the rock jetties are still there. The Brookhaven Civic Association may have felt the need "to prevent further erosion" because of the erosion erosion that was being caused by the jetty built at the month of Beaver Dam Creek to the west in 1930 This jetty caused so much erosion that it cut into the tree line between Bay Road and Beaver Dam Creek.
