Pfc Fruchtnicht Dies of Wounds On Italian Front
Pfc. Paul Fruchtnicht, aged 35, an Army truck driver died in Italy on July 12 of wounds received in action, the War department says in a telegram received Monday by his wife, Mrs. Mary Fruchtnicht of Robinson boulevard, Brookhaven.
Private Fruchtnicht, a native of Germany who came to this country 12 years ago, had been employed on the [John C.] Rochester [see] estate in Brookhaven up to the time he entered the Army in Jul, 1942. Previously, he had purchased a house on the Mott property on South Country road, Bellport, where he had hoped to establish his home after the war. Mrs. Fruchtnicht, who had been staying at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Waldron in Brookhaven while her husband was away, has no relatives in this country. Her parents are in Germany, and she had heard from them only recently through the International Red Cross.
Besides his wife, Private Fruchtnicht leaves a brother, who lives in New York.
