- Advance, 29 May 1880: "News has lately been received of the death of William E. Woodruff son of Jehiel Woodruff of this place [Bellport]. He died in Florida where he had gone for relief from consumption. Mr. Woodruff was well known in this vicinity, and many regret his death. He was a natural artist and some of the homes of this place contain pictures from his brush which are no mean testimonials of genius. He was about 45 years of age."
