    [Archibald Havens comments: "he calls himself John Havens Sr., mentions his wife Sarah, daughter of John and Sarah (Horton) Conklin, oldest son Henry, third son William, sons Jonathan and Benjamin, daughters Sarah, Eleanor, Mary, Phebe, and Desire. "

    Frost notes: "John Havens, Sr., late of Shelter Island 'but now of Brookhaven, L.I.,' made his will June 25, 1750, which was proved November 26, 1750."
    "He names his eldest son as Henry, bequeathing him 370 acres on Shelter Island, but he will have to pay one hundred pounds to son Benjamin to whom he leaves his land in Brookhaven, to share with his other son Jonathan. He states that his third son is William and bequeaths him land on Hog Neck in Southampton and he is to pay his daughters (sisters of William) Elinor and Sarah thrity pounds each. He gives his wife Sarah his two eldest negroes for her life and then to his above-named daughters. His other daughters, Desire, Phebe and Mary, are to receive one negro each. His wife is to have one-third of his movables and the west room in the house, and the other two-thirds to his five daughters."]
