By the 20th Century it was known as the Edgewater Inn, a summer vacation hotel operated by Mrs. Rachel D'Arcas nee Purdy. In 1928 it was destroyed by fire. In the 1950s, a modern residence was built on the site by the Munhofens. |
Documents | ![]() | John Smith Rose House - Edgewater Inn .. Rachael Purdy de Arcas purchased the John Smith Rose homestead in 1899 and operated it for many years as the Edgewater Inn. Esther Hayes Wickham operated the Inn from about 1925 to 1927/1928, when she established the Beaver Dam Lodge a short distance away.
