It remained a membership organization until the 1920's when Anson Hard bought the outstanding shares from the remaining members, at which time the site became his own personal hunting lodge for himself and close friends. This hunting lodge would eventually become Suffolk County's first county park, now known as the South Haven County Park. Launch Hard's Yacht Today.
The new 154-foot Diesel yacht for Anson W. Hard will be launched a the Consolidated Shipbuilding Corporation yard at Morris Heights today. The launching is to take place at noon.

Former Member of Exchange Was Harvard Graduate--Belonged to Number of Clubs
Anson W. Hard of Brookhaven, L.I., a former member of the New York Stock Exchange, died yesterday in Columbia Presbyterian Medical Centre of an affection of the lungs which had necessitated an operation a year ago and again on Wednesday. He was 51 years old. The funeral service will be held in St. Bartholomew's Church, Park and Fifty-first Street, at 2:30 P. M. tomorrow.
The near relatives surviving are his second wife, who was Mrs. Katherine Potter Avery at their marriage in 1938, and five children by his first wife, who was Mrs. Florence Bourne Hard and is now Mrs. Robert B. Deans of this city. The children are Frederick B. Hard, a member of the New York Stock Exchange; George W., Kenneth, William and Florence Hard. Mrs. Katherine Potter Hard is a sister of Mrs. George H. Earle, wife of the Governor of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Hard was a son of the late Anson W. Hard Sr., founder of the coffee importing firm of Hard & Rand. At his retirement several years ago from active participation in business Mr. Hard was a member of Taylor, Smith & Hard, stockbrokers.
Until his illness limited his activities he has been prominent in the social life of New York and Palm Beach and as a yachtsman. In December, 1929, his 154-foot Diesel yacht was launched by Consolidated Shipbuilding Corporation.
A graduate of Harvard in 1908, Mr. Hard belonged to the Harvard Club of New York, Piping Rock Club, South Side Sportsmen and the Links Club.
Anson married Florence Bourne on 29 Apr 1908, and was divorced in 1932 in Reno, Washoe, NV. Florence was born on 6 Jan 1886; died on 11 May 1969. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
