J.W. Swezey House

This house at 331 Beaverdam Rd. was built about 1850/51 by John Warren Swezey on property purchased from his brother William Egbert Swezey. William Egbert lived next door to the east (the 1740 House now at 5 Locust Rd.) While the house has a Beaverdam Rd. address, it's history is a part of the Locust Rd. story.

John Warren Swezey died in 1887, but his wife, Pheobe Hawkins Swezey, lived in the house until she died in 1903. The house was bought in settlement of the estate by their son. It was soon after sold to Emilie A. Wagner and Ellen E. Learned, who enlarged the house more-or-less to it's present size. They were musicians and teachers.

The original farm road to the old Corwin farm ran along to the left (west) of the house. When Locust Rd. was built, it was cut to the right (east) of the house.

The house is now owned by Richard and Ann Wiswall.
